GLASGOW GOES GREEN FESTIVAL
Creating Our Planet

Creating Our Planet is a community exhibition concluding this year’s Glasgow Goes Green Festival, an annual collaborative event run by universities across Glasgow to raise awareness and engage people with the issues facing our planet. We chose the theme of ‘Creating Our Planet’ to recognise the shortcomings of COP26, the need for creative solutions to sustainability and the importance of the arts in representing and engaging with the climate crisis. Our hope is that the exhibition will demonstrate the need for a creative, interdisciplinary and multifaceted approach to the climate crisis, as well as providing an inclusive, educational and inspiring space for people to engage with the issues presented.
As the issues facing our planet become ever more complex and urgent, the need for all subjects and sectors to confront and tackle them together becomes ever more present. From artists to scientists, writers to architects, the exhibition features work from a range of disciplines, collectively exploring what it means to create our planet.
The exhibition welcomed submissions from anyone who had an idea to share, however big or small. We asked people to think about architectural designs of future worlds, engineering projects solving environmental issues, photography of how they see the world, poetry written to future generations and paintings of how they want the planet to make them feel. The result is an exciting and diverse range of work that captures the present moment and our collective hopes for a more sustainable and just future.
